A remedy for the post-sickness child

Here is a book that I found at just the right time in my life.

My kids were sick with the flu for a whole week and when they got better, it was like they forgot how to help themselves. They became less patient and more demanding, like this girl named Anna.

I can relate very much to this tired Babushka who is just trying to get her work done but gets constantly interrupted.

Babushka's solution was to let Anna play with a special doll that comes to life and is just as helpless and demanding as Anna!

Patricia Polacco books have definitely been an acquired taste in my case. They are slow-paced and gentle and her art is very unique. They are full of heart and have the depth I need if I'm going to read a book more than 5 times. To get my kids to pay attention to Patricia Polloco books, I read to them during lunch or a snack. This way they are a captive audience! 😉
